A letter to the marketing leader who’s done optimizing a broken playbook.

I’m just going to say it.

Marketing doesn’t feel like marketing anymore.

We’re producing more than ever. We’re moving faster than ever. And somehow we’re more disconnected from buyers than we’ve ever been.

Everybody is running the same playbook with the same AI tools at the same speed. We’re feeding each other’s ads, landing pages, and content back into the machine. Everybody’s starting to sound the same. Everybody’s landing in the same middle.

And if the playbook is broken — and it is — all that speed just gets you to the wrong place quicker.

That’s the part nobody wants to admit.

And when it’s not working, nobody questions the playbook. They question the execution. The ads. The headlines. The landing pages. The content. It’s always the execution — never the playbook.

So the team optimizes harder. Tests more. Launches more. And six months later they’re in the exact same spot.

Because they fixed the wrong thing.

I’ve been there. I ran this playbook as a VP of Demand Gen until it broke. I’m not theorizing.

The companies that actually pulled away did it with two things.

First, a narrative that shifts how buyers see their own world. Not product messaging. Not pain points. Something that makes buyers feel what changed, what’s at stake, and why they need to move now instead of doing nothing. When you get this right, buyers start using your words before they ever talk to sales. That’s when you know.

Second, a play built specifically for them that nobody else can copy. One client, we built a way for buyers to experience the product before talking to sales. 25% conversion. 11x revenue. Five years later, still uncopied. Because it didn’t come from a template. It came from going deep enough to see something nobody else saw.

When those two things click, marketing starts compounding instead of resetting every quarter. Competitors can copy your ads all day. It won’t matter. The thing underneath is yours.

That’s what I do.

I help companies find the narrative and the play underneath the ads that’s actually worth building around. Then I run demand gen on top of both while we’re building them.

Six clients. Same four people. In your Slack. In your pipeline meetings. No handoffs. No bullshit.

If this hit close to home, let’s talk.

Rooting for you.

If any of this hit close to home, the next step is a conversation — not a pitch. An honest read on what’s happening, whether we work together or not.
